Big Mama’s First Annual Community Fellowship Day will celebrate the legacy of Patricia “Big Mama” Barron and, her belief that we are connected, her lover for cooking and feeding people her commitment to the greater Omaha Community. Big Mama believed that people coming together to share a meal could change the world.
Big Mama was also possessed a firm belief that everyone deserves a second chance. She put this belief in action by providing jobs and a place to learn basic job skills for many members of the community who were felons or had never held a job. She also believed that a culinary degree could create limitless career possibilities for anyone who was dedicated and willing to learn.
April 5th was proclaimed as Big Mama Day in 2018 by the city of Omaha when Big Mama was laid to rest. Big Mama’s Kitchen Catering and her family are committed to continuing her legacy to the business she created and the community she loved so much with the 1st Annual Big Mama’s CommUNITY Fellowship Day to Pay It Forward.
